Hard disk drives come in varying capacities. Generally the smaller the capacity the cheaper the drive. The cost per gigabyte of a hard disk is reduced the larger the capacity of the disc. Hard disk drives come in various physical sizes too. 3.5” drives are for desktops and servers, 2.5” drives are for laptops. The Interface is the way in which the hard disk is connected to the computer. There are a few different interfaces and this has to match your computer. Hard disk drives can also come in a case for attaching via a USB, this makes the data portable. A hard disk can be added as an additional drive (e.g. D:), or your data and operating system can be moved to a new bigger drive. |
